Air Play is a drumless band, but the set could have been on stage. Drummer Trond Kopperud passed away in 2021, almost 20 years after Fair Play played their last concert. As a tribute, the remaining members of Fair Play have gathered up the strong musical threads and made new music to rhythms in the spirit of Kopperud.
Air Play consists of Elin Rosseland, Vigleik Storaas, Tor Yttredal and Johannes Eick. There is a lot of new experience accumulated since the last time, but the starting point for the music is the same. Community, interaction, improvisation and sound. The intermediate magic of melody, rhythm and common expression, also in the soloist.
All the musicians have contributed music to the band, then as now. The songs are open and all follow each other’s musical intentions and what each wants to express. With luminous inspiration, studio time has been booked and lucky are we who get a meeting with new music before it is recorded. We can also expect some nice flashbacks from their strong debut album Fair Play released in 1989. Jazz with lyrics in Norwegian in this quality is rare commodity, we can promise you a fabulous evening. The rhythm of the guitar is between the lines.
