For forty years of exceptional career, pianist Louise Bessette has distinguished herself by the excellence of her live performances. The critics have always been dithyrambic in their praise. Several composers have written specially for her.

As a soloist, she has performed with Leonardo García Alarcón (Les Violons du Roy), Charles Bruck (Orchestre symphonique de Québec), Edward Cumming (Ulster Orchestra, Belfast, Ireland), Agnieszka Duczmal (Amadeus Chamber Orchestra, Poznań, Poland), Charles Dutoit and Kent Nagano (Orchestre symphonique de Montréal), among others, Mauricio Kagel (Orchestre philharmonique de Radio France), Pascal Rophé (Orchestre national de Montpellier, France), Gerard Schwarz (New York Chamber Symphony), Michel Swierczewski (Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, Denmark), Yuli Turovsky (I Musici de Montréal) and Pascal Verrot (Orchestre national de Lyon, France).

Louise Bessette’s vast repertoire has earned her numerous invitations to major musical events. These include the Festival Présences de Radio France, the Festival Musica de Strasbourg, the Festival Détours de Babel in Grenoble, the Festival Tivoli in Copenhagen, the Festival Numus in Aarhus, the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival (Great Britain), the Festival international de Lanaudière (Québec) and the Festival international du Domaine Forget (Québec). She also performed at the World Music Days in Warsaw and Mexico City. In 2007, she was professor and guest artist at the 4th Shanghai International Piano Festival.

In 2019, Louise Bessette received the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award (Artistic Achievement in Classical Music), Canada’s highest distinction in the performing arts.
