Marcin Janek Extradition quintet is a band that has already become known to the jazz audience from the best side. As a laureate of the Jazz nad Odra festival or the review of young jazz and blues bands in Gdynia, he took the wind in his sails and recorded his first album, entitled “movin’ on”. This American slogan about not wasting time, leaving what was behind and moving forward, perfectly corresponds with the unstoppable energy of the group.

The band’s leader Marcin Janek is responsible for the compositions on the album. In his work and way of playing, one can hear a fascination with spirituality and freedom, that is, what is so important for jazz, and nowadays often abandoned in favor of logic and closed forms. However, this does not mean that the album is full of chaos-the titles of individual songs will lead the listener to the stories about which the band is pursuing its musical narrative. This one sounds unusual due to the extremely interesting musicians of the younger generation who make up the Extradition Quintet. In the rhythm section you can hear Maks Kreft, Pawel urowski and Dominik Kisiel, while the melodic section is composed by Piotr Szlempo and – leader – Marcin Janek. These five personalities together create extraordinary music-dynamic, charismatic, sometimes lyrical, often very energetic. Music you want to go back to. In the title track, the leading Polish saxophonist Wojciech staroniewicz joins the quintet, which increases the dose of unusual sensations.
