If Bratsch was the spearhead of Gypsy and Esatern Music in the 1980-1990 and until that fatefull date of decembre 31,2015, when they stopped travelling the world, Dan Gharibian is one of the emblematic figures. Santiags never left, oriental elegance, a remarkable « face » bettween all and especially a voice. A voice that seems to have absorbed all the smoke of the bars of rebetiko, rubbed with arak and vodka, a voice that sings songs and ballads gypsies, Armenian, Russian, Greek blues. So welcome to this new trio that brings together Benoit Convert and Antoine Girard.

After more than 45 years of service, especially with the Bratsch group, Dan Gharibian’s voice has matured; like a good bottle of wine, he gets better. His warm and inimitable voice is the heart of this second album ” Da Svidaniya Madame ” in trio with guitarist Benoît Convert and accordionist Antoine Girard. The result is subtle, strong, sensitive.

This song recital takes us to dreamy lands where timeless stories of love, friendships, encountersand adventures mingle. We wander among languages with songs in French (you will notice personal interpretations of Nougaro’s Rimes and Aznavour’s Parce Que), Armenian (with Da Svidaniya Madame, the ballad that gives its name to the album written by Dan Gharibian and Gulo, a former Armenian song from Anatolia), Romanès (Gypsy language like in Tavès Bartalo waltz or Boubasko Prasniko which is literally a party invitation), Greek (in the very swinging Egnatias 406) and even Dioula (Mandinka language spoken in Burkina Faso in Siya Lé’s vibrant version).

Throughout this album, delightful musical colours flow naturally and delicately: Frenchromanticism, oriental perfumes, haunting blues, Caucasian laments, Slavic inspiration, delicate accordion music, gypsy inspirations, the whole with depth and a touch of humour. Spaces open upfor inspired instrumental parts, highlighting the singing and enhancing a feeling of complete freedom.
