The vocal ensemble Cantus Thuringia, dedicates itself in different occupations to the repertoire of the 16th to the 18th century: from the quartet to the chamber choir, the professional singers are able to create an adequate ensemble sound according to the music. The collaboration with internationally sought-after soloists complements the musical spectrum.

In addition to the emphasis on sacred vocal music, a uniform overall concept is aimed at the performance of stage works through the collaboration with specialists of historical acting and gestures. For example, the ensemble was able to attract international attention in productions such as Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas (directed by Margit Legler), Georg Philipp Telemann’s Pimpinone or Anna Amalia’s Erwin und Elmire (both directed by Nils Niemann).
